A bit about Sharron: This artist’s visual vocabulary incorporates many disciplines and mediums to form a unique visionary style.

She began creating art at the age of 11, studying under the Expressionist Painter, Eleanor King Hookam, founder of the Elmhurst Art Museum in Illinois. Sharron went on to study at The Ringling College of Art in Sarasota Florida, then finished with a Bache- lor’s of Fine Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Sharron is highly prolific, and classically trained. Her company, OttArt, has been in business since 1996, providing fine art, interior design, and teaching services.

Ms.Ott’s career took a somersault in 1990-1994 as she toured with The Cirque Du Soliel, as a scenic, prop artist, and costume mistress, during the North American Tour of Allegria. After that she created scenic art for Steppenwolf Theatre, and her set de- sign for The Red Moon Theatre’s, “Medicine Show," which was featured at the open- ing of The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. She has exhibited her paintings across the US, and has works in many prominent collections. She has created many murals, indoors and outdoors, and is proficient in Interior Design, beautifying over 50 commercial establishments.

In 2007 she began teaching, developing a strong following in Oak Park Il at OPAL, until moving to Michigan in 2016. Currently she holds classes at The Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph Mi, and at Eagle’s Woods, and Front Street Crossing, both in Dowagiac MI, she also lectures at colleges in the Chicago area on Color Psychology. Recently Sharron has been working on her many on-line classes via her FaceBook, and You- Tube.

Her works may be seen at Amy Zane in Kalamazoo Mi, as well as in many other exhibitions.

Artists Statement: While using the circus as a metaphor for life, I contemplate the way that humans attempt to stop and preserve moments in visual images, and written words. The snap shots that are grasped develop a story of their own, and live on in time.

The collection, Moments, shows quick glimpses of past dreams which now are formed into stories. Some of the pieces are inspired by legends of my ancestors that have been preserved in the operas of Richard Wagner.

The art is layered with many different materials, forming textured collages on canvas. If one looks closely they might just find a few words tucked within the compositions.
