A bit about Suza: Suza Kanon has lived in Dallas forever. In fact, her family has been in Dallas County since 1877 helping to account for this poet’s recurring wanderlust. She is a conceptual artist, researcher, compulsive writer & unrepentant scribbler. Her poetry has been published in the chapbook Downtown Underground. An ASCAP member, she has recorded her poetic lyrics on vinyl records three times with commercially available 12” e.p.’s such as Getting In It by Orly Angelo & the Ross Street Hustlers, and A Warm Focus by Grey/Chakaharta both on Fair Park Records, as well as Solid Foundations by Grey on Guidance Recordings. Influences include: Allen Ginsburg, Rumi, Leonard Cohen, William Blake, Anais Nin, Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Andy Warhol and Einstein. Suza enjoys her role as an organizer & provocateur, encouraging creative productivity in her community at large. This active poet likes experimenting with different writing techniques such as the cut up method and other surrealist games such as exquisite corpse for example. You can see Suza perform live at local open mics and as a featured poet or vocalist at gallery readings, festivals, cabarets, nightclubs, jazz bars, coffee shops, & wherever rhymes are encouraged to be heard.

Artist Statement: Suza Kanon's visual art is known for alternating layers of texture & imagery through the build-up of mixed media, paint, ink, found object, collaged or transferred print materials of the public domain & conversely via deconstructive decay, stencils, gunshots & varying methods of exploring negative space.

Her conceptual art is categorized as abstract surrealism featuring themes of iconography & re-purposed images.
