A bit about Stephen: Stephen VanderHaar was born in the great yet somehow forgettable state of Delaware. He pursued drawing and painting at a relatively early age, spending copious amounts of time and energy doodling on schoolbooks and any available reasonably flat and/or immobile surface. This love of creating artwork led him to pursue a degree in studio art, which he swears to this day he'll one day make good on. He is currently among the enlisted ranks of the US Army and lives with his gorgeous wife Holly, sons Aidan, Joby, and Jack, and a few weird cats.

Artist Statement: As I'm sure with any artist out there, my own personal style has been a constant process of evolution. I always hated when my assignments in art classes would blend in with 35 other near-identical studies of leaves or bottles, so I always enjoyed putting in a little something extra, whether it be a small bug or a cleanly severed finger, much to the chagrin of many of my extremely religious instructors who would desperately try to decide if I required a bad grade, counseling, or a good old-fashioned exorcism. I mostly work with pencil and ink or acrylic and oil paints. As a crippling introvert, I like to convey images and ideas in my work that my mind conjures up and prefer to let them tell the masses what is going on in my ADD-addled brain.
