Look at me mamma, feeling blue today because I can’t talk to you & wish you a happy birthday. I miss being able to pick up the phone and call to you. You always made time for me. You always had a way of making me feel good, feel right, feel bright. When I was feeling blue, like today, it’d be you I would call to hear my woes. When I was sad, it’s be you that would console. When I was doubt filled, it’d be you who’d help me see that “whatever will be will be.” When I’d feel hurried, it’d be you who said take it one day at a time. I miss you. I sure wish I could talk to you now to tell you how much I do, mamma.

Look at me mamma, bought me a home, just like you always wanted me to do. And she’s a fine home indeed. I wish I could have checked this box while you were still here because I know how much it worried you that I didn’t own a little piece of America. Now I do and I know you had a celestial say in helping me find the right place to call home. I feel your divine presence in her hearth, mamma.

Look at me mamma, being the soul you raised me up to be, your lil ray of sunshine in our sometimes dark world. I hear your voice when I need a lift, encouraging me that I can do it. I feel your blessings as I navigate thru life’s obstacles, picking me up when I stumble. I see you every time I look in the mirror feeling your presence still with me even though you’re gone. I carry your life, your spirit, I carry you in my heart, mamma.

Look at me mamma, barely surviving without you here. It’s not as easy for me as some may believe. I put on a my strongest front but from the deepest reaches of my being, I miss you. Every day a heavy wave washes over me. It happens when I realize you’ve really left me for good. That reality is still sinking in. You, of all souls, know how tender hearted your baby boy could be, mamma…
