Miss America

I miss America.

This country that I see
Isn’t what she used to be
Divided states, divisive views
With red, blue & purple hues
Once the land of liberty
Just isn’t what she used to be
We left her beaten and abused

I miss America.

This place where I dwell
She isn’t doin’ too well
An eroding nation
With a cracked foundation
Just in case you couldn’t tell
Listen to the tolling bell
Our last breaths taken

I miss America.

This home of the brave
Ravaged by a greedy wave
Piggery, bigotry and tyranny
Left her in this misery
A bitter feud, no one’s saved
Founders weeping at her grave
Duped by this shyster’s trickery

I miss America.

This land of broken dreams
Isn’t what she once seemed
Deluded fat cat drools
Blatantly breaking all the rules
Pushing all their greedy schemes
Ignoring all the people’s screams
Thinking we all are fools

I miss America.

This experiment in democracy
Broken by autocracy
Once we were so majestic
But these days unsympathetic
Controversy, hypocrisy, idiocracy
Never dreamed we’d fail so easily
Our current ascetic is so pathetic

I sure do miss America.

So, so, so very true, democracy missing the mark. On the bright side, the French are in their fourth or fifth experiment with being a republic. So, we might be spot-on with our next try!

Thanks for the comment, Tim! It’s a sad & pathetic state of affairs. Heart breaking and we’ve only just begun our deja vu with this orange asshat. Here’s hoping we follow in the French’s footsteps but only needing to overthrow the fat cat autocrats once!
