His father smoked Prince Alpert in a can
No joke
He put an apple in it to keep the tobacco moist
It added flavor to the already sweet aroma he said.
When his son was older he bought a pipe
He smoked some flavored tobacco and got sick
So much for experiencing new things
Or was it?
Years later he tried it again
He bought some pipe tobacco with the aroma of a snug campfire
The scent of autumn leaves burning at sundown
It was lovely.
He smoked that tobacco for years
Savoring the flavor of something wild
The scent of ancient times
An addictive timeless joy.
He still keeps his pipe and some tobacco too
That aroma?
It still has the power to carry him away
Like smoke from an ageless prehistoric fire
To a time in his past
He’s not ready to soon forget.
