She disappeared I am
XXXXX Almost certain of it Tuesday
XXXXXXXXXX Afternoon going down
This dirt road festooned
XXXXX With ribbons & cartoon arrow
XXXXXXXXXX Signs: ‘This Way to the Grub!!’
It hadn’t rained for days
XXXXX Clouds of dust rose with every step
XXXXXXXXXX Like music in a black
& white movie and then
XXXXX She was gone, there was nothing be
XXXXXXXXXX Tween the horizon line
& me but the twitching
XXXXX Tails of those Fleischer Brother wolves
XXXXXXXXXX & their sinister eyes
Blinking in the forest
XXXXX A sloppy forest smeared or splashed
XXXXXXXXXX Impatiently the ink
Not even dry they were
XXXXX So eager to get to the good
XXXXXXXXXX Parts we can never see.
