IN ’41

In ’41 I was
only a child,
too young to join
the army.

In ’41 I was
just a baby,
too small to walk,
too small to
speak a word or make
the world a better place.

In ’41 I did
not know my name.
I would have changed
it if I
knew who I was in
’41 now.

I was too young
to defend
my land from our foes,
too young to wipe my nose.

In ’41 I had
no crazy thoughts
inside my head.
If I did
I could not think
that far back.

I was too young
to make waves,
too young to make life
a better place, yeah.
