This month we will be virtually featuring the fine folks from the Southern Collective Experience. Clifford Brooks (author, teacher, poet and the founder of The Southern Collective Experience) will be joined by Scott Thomas Outlar (host at 17Numa and Contributing Poet here at Mad Swirl) & musician Kaleb Garrett (a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from North Georgia). The Southern Collective Experience is a cooperative from all walks of life, and from every part on the nation. It is not simply a collection of work from below the Mason-Dixon Line. We fly the philosophy that “everyone is south of somewhere.” Our focus is to break the stereotypes artists have unfortunately earned in regard to lack of dependability, rampant emotional immaturity, and people incapable of working selflessly with other creators. We are not out to change the world. The Southern Collective Experience is a tactful force to make our professional abilities and work ethic respected the same as every other vocation.
